Goodnight Phone Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 8, 2026
Goodnight Phone blocks the apps you choose while your iPhone is in your bedroom during the hours you set. It's built so that nothing about you leaves your phone.
The short version
- Goodnight Phone has no account, no servers, no analytics and no ads.
- Everything it stores stays on your device.
- It doesn't collect, sell or share any personal data, and it doesn't track you.
What Goodnight Phone uses, and why
Screen Time (Family Controls). You pick which apps, categories and websites to block with Apple's own picker. Apple gives Goodnight Phone opaque tokens for your choices, not the names of the apps, and Goodnight Phone never sees how you use them. The tokens are stored on your device so the block can be applied at bedtime.
Location. Goodnight Phone uses iOS beacon monitoring to notice when your iPhone is near your bedroom beacon. iOS reports only "near the beacon" or "not near it". Goodnight Phone doesn't read, store or send your GPS position or any map location.
Bluetooth. If you set up a Blue Charm beacon from the app, Goodnight Phone connects to it over Bluetooth to set its ID and range. If you use a spare iPad or iPhone instead of a beacon, Goodnight Phone uses Bluetooth between your own devices to tell whether you're in the bedroom. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
Settings and activity log. Your bedtime hours, beacon ID and a short log of recent events (such as "Entered bedroom") are stored on your device, in storage shared only between Goodnight Phone and its own extensions. The log keeps the last 60 entries.
What leaves your device
Nothing. Goodnight Phone makes no network requests. If you've turned on sharing with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send crash reports to the developer. Those are covered by Apple's privacy policy, not handled by Goodnight Phone.
Deleting your data
Deleting Goodnight Phone removes everything it stored. To lift all blocks without deleting it, go to Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access and turn Goodnight Phone off.
Children
Goodnight Phone is for adults managing their own phone. It doesn't knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
